Why Not

At the Thai restaurant where I am waiting tables this summer, we have exactly one regular. He comes in, by himself, with no book to read or newspaper to look over or Ipod to listen to, peruses the menu, and orders his dinner. He doesn’t seem to know anyone at the restaurant, and he makes pleasant small talk with the staff before focusing on his food. He doesn’t seem lonely, or unhappy, or unsociable, or strange. He seems incredibly normal and kind and unassuming. He just really likes Thai food.
